BBC Media Action Climate Change Documentary Production in Cambodia
This documentary project was produced for BBC Media Action as a second in the series of 'Don't wait for the rain' to support communication initiatives in Cambodia Stephen Rae Producer/Director, filming took place across Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Tonlae Sap communities, Kampot and provincial locations, capturing real stories and community perspectives.
The films were designed to inform, engage and support development communication objectives through visual storytelling. resulting in one hour film aired on National TV and online




Project Overview
Stephen Rae on assignment as the director and producer on a six-month documentary production for BBC Media Action in Cambodia. The project involved developing stories in collaboration with NGOs and community organisations across the country, and leading a team of 12 crew around the country with a show host to capture the stories. Stephen's responsibilities included story research, director on location filming, script development and editorial control in post production to shape the final film. The assignment focused on producing high-quality documentary content supporting communication and outreach initiatives.

Role and Responsibilities Stephen Rae
As director and producer, Stephen Rae was responsible for the full creative and production process, including:
• Identifying and developing documentary stories through NGO partnerships
• Directing filming across multiple locations in Cambodia
• Managing a 12-person production crew
• Writing scripts and structuring narrative content
• Working closely with editors to guide post-production and final delivery
